The materials used in my fiber art are largely secondhand and repurposed materials. It is important to me to see the value in what we already have, to be grateful for what is in front of us, and to be creative enough to resist functional fixedness.

Human Hands
Everything at Scout House Studios is created with human hands, directed by a human brain. You will find marks of humanness in the pieces you bring into your home, perhaps a loose stitch or a stray brush stroke, because I like to smell human and not machine on my art!

COLOR!
I love color! Color is incredibly important in my life because it changes my perception of my environment (synesthesia anyone??). My artwork is subsequently very colorful. Scout House Studios isn’t about sophistication, its about fun, embracing playfulness, and experimenting!

I’m Emma, the human hands, and this sweet creature is Scout, the Chiweenie pup, our namesake at Scout House Studios. This is a queer and neurodiverse studio; come as you are, know there is always room for you, and hold space for others. I hope my art makes you smile, brings you hope, and reminds you that the simple things can bring great joy. Each piece is completely handmade and therefore each holds its own unique differences.
